We all need a compass
I’m off on Holiday for a week today. NY, NY for some much needed R&R. In my absence, I leave you with the first trailer that’s moved me to wonder since some little Hobbits took to the silver screen
I’ve loved this story in book, on stage, in script - and I’m so looking forward to seeing it on screen. Don’t disappoint me brothers Weitz.

Looks pretty damn wonderful. Loved the books too; in some ways they’re a humanist riposte to Narnia (which I loved as a kis before realising it was a christian allegory-I thought they were just cool stories with witches and lions).
Would be interesting to see what they include and cut out-some pruning will be needed to make them work as films.
Incidentally my obscenely talented sister Nina just put on a stage production of His Dark Materials parts 1 & 2 with a hundred or so youth theatre kids of all ages, so for me the film has even more to live up to!

Hi Arvind! Are you the same Arvind who’s mates with Schuman? If so, PLEASE get him to contact me, sent him emails but no reply. If you tell him the weirdo razor-obsessed scriptwriter is after him, then he’ll know who you mean… Actually, maybe that’s not such a good idea! ; ) Best regards, L
