CEO and Producer
Arvind Ethan David is head producer and CEO at slingshot, the next generation film company which he co-founded in 2005. Arvind leads both business and creative strategy for the company, and has served as a producer on all of the company's films to date - SUGARHOUSE, FRENCH FILM, FAINTHEART and currently TORMENTED.
Immediately prior to slingshot, Arvind served as Commercial Advisor to Headline Pictures, the production company set up by Mark Shivas, Stewart Mackinnon and Kevin Hood. Between 2003 to 2004, Arvind was Interim Managing Director of Ruby Films, working to Oscar-nominated producer Alison Owen. In 1999 he founded and ran hahabonk, one of the UK's early internet entertainment companies producing more than 100 short animated films and interactive games for cable television and broadband internet, in the course of which, helping to launch the careers of such comedians as Jimmy Carr, Mackenzie Crook and The Hollow Men.
In addition to his career as producer and entrepreneur, Arvind is also a qualified solicitor, and an occasional writer of prose and plays: his stage-show DIRK, based on the Douglas Adams character, won three prizes in the 2007 LA Weekly Theatre Awards.
Arvind is a member of the British Screen Advisory Council, the PACT Film Policy Group, spends too much time speaking at conferences and is a regular guest lecturer at London Business School. Arvind grew up between Kuala Lumpur and London, speaks Malay (badly) and Spanish (even more badly) and likes to blog (www.slingshot-studios.com/blog).

Chief Operating Officer & Producer
Cavan is chief operating officer and a producer at Slingshot, working across operational strategy and creative projects. He is currently producing Slingshot's latest film, the teen horror TORMENTED.
Cavan combines creative and business duties and builds on 15 years experience in both film and television in London and Los Angeles. Working in development at an impressive range of companies including Imagine Entertainment, Fox Searchlight, TNT Original Movies, FremantleMedia and Tiger Aspect, Cavan has honed his creative and commercial instincts.
He has a track record of developing and nurturing commercial talent and ideas. Working as a television development producer for over eight years, he has conceived and developed hundreds of hours of prime-time television formats which have sold internationally - including Jamie Oliver's first series, THE NAKED CHEF, the equally successful format, TWO FAT LADIES, and his original gameshow, YOUR FACE OR MINE, which won best gameshow at the 2003 Rose D'Or, and helped launch Jimmy Carr.
Cavan spent nearly 4 years in Los Angeles developing an understanding of the Hollywood system and how to apply those lessons to the UK film industry. His film experience spans major studios, art house specialists, and independents, and has seen him working on the development of big budget blockbusters such as A BEAUTIFUL MIND and THE GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS with Ron Howard at Imagine, and TV movies at TNT, before using that learning to move into low budget, genre films at Slingshot.
He has a BA from Oxford University, and MFA in film producing from the University of Southern California, where he graduated from the prestigious Peter Stark Producing Program, and an MBA from London Business School.

Development Producer
Uzma Hasan is Development Producer at Slingshot where she works across project selection, development and packaging. She has just commenced production on TORMENTED as Associate Producer.
Prior to joining Slingshot, Uzma was producing music promos and commercials. Whilst in New York, she supported the Executive Producer and Special Events team at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival and worked with Focus Features and Mirabai Films on the post production of Mira Nair's film VANITY FAIR.
Before moving into film, Uzma was a public relations consultant to international corporations such as NEC and Verizon and helped to launch mCubed Magazine in the US, an arts and cultural magazine aimed at young Muslim professionals.
Uzma is on the selection committee for Mira Nair's MAISHA Labs as well as the British Independent Film Awards. She is London Chapter Head of Harvardwood, the official network of Harvard alums in the entertainment and media industries.
She studied Film and Literature at Harvard University's Graduate School of Arts and Science, where she was awarded a scholarship by the Kennedy Memorial Trust, and graduated from University of Wales, Cardiff with a First in English Literature.

Alex Tanner
Prior to joining Slingshot, Alex worked in LA for Don Buchwald & Associates supporting the Head of Literary. Whilst there, he also competed a Producer's Business and Development course with Pepperdine University. Before this he worked in London as a freelance script reader for Intermedia Films and TalkBack Thames Television and as Production Assistant on Ealing Studios' I WANT CANDY. He has also completed a script reading course with The Script Factory, a writing/directing course with The Metropolitan Film School and was awarded a Diploma in Film Making from the New York Film Academy.
Alex has produced, written and directed 2 short films, both winning critical acclaim; the first, CAKE, went on to win Best Short Film at the Coventry Film Festival 2002 while his follow up, SWEET, was selected for Critics Choice at Edinburgh Fringe 2007.

Toby is Story Editor at Slingshot where he works across a range of projects on its low budget and mid budget slate including the recently completed teen horror TORMENTED. He is a published writer in his own right regularly writing for Marvel Comics' AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and SHE-HULK as well as Nickelodeon's SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and the BBC's topical game show HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU.
He is a well respected script editor and has worked with some of the most successful writers in the British film industry on films including HOT FUZZ (Working Title), DIRTY PRETTY THINGS (Miramax Films), THE DESCENT (Celador Films) and PEACE ONE DAY (BBC Films) along with the television series FIMBLES SERIES 2 (Buena Vista Productions) which was BAFTA nominated for Best Pre-School Live Action in 2004. He regularly works with the UK Film Council and started his career as an agent at Micheline Steinberg Associates.
Toby has a BA in European History and Literature from Tufts University in Boston and speaks French and Spanish.

He was the first film student at Columbia University to deliver a project digitally; his entrepreneurial skills led him to establish a successful e-Learning company, before combining his love for film and establishing the Metropolitan Film School.

Thomas manages a group of companies involved in venture capital and entertainment under Arts Alliance which has backed more than 35 companies. He serves on the boards of the following film related businesses: AtomShockwave; Hart Sharp Entertainment’s True Film Fund; Hart Sharp Video; CityScreen Cinemas; Metropolitan Film School; LOVEFiLM and Arts Alliance Media. As an artist he has directed 20 productions in television, theatre and radio drama.
